He is the recipient of the George Bugnet Novel Award, the City of Edmonton Book Prize and a Giller Prize nomination for <i The Trade</i , two AMPIA awards for best documentary script and the Canadian Authors Association Silver Medal for <i Lonesome Hero</i . He is the only two—time winner of the $25,000 Grant MacEwan Author’s Prize. He lives in Calgary with his wife, the author and professor Pamela Banting. He has two children.</p
