Graphic fiction writer, Kazuo Koike is co-creator and writer of the Lone Wolf and Cub and Crying Freeman manga. In addition, he founded a golf magazine, was a movie producer, and writer of poetry and screenplays. He adapted the popular manga into a series of films which gained him recognition for his screenwriting. Koike started the Gekiga Sonjuku, a college course to assist talented writers and artists entering the comics field. His works have earned him many awards including two Harvey Awards and an Eisner Award.
