John Pharms has survived premature birth, misdiagnosed mental deficiency, abandonment, institutionalization, stuttering, visual impairment, foster homes and abuse. Today his IQ is above average, he has a degree in communications from Western Michigan University, has taught and coached college and professional sports on both sides of the Atlantic. The story of how this came about and thus, this book, deserves telling not just because it's a unique adventure but because of what's in it for other kids who face challenges; before any of us can overcome anything, we have to learn to imagine, based on the models we find in others.
