Tim Gilmore has seen the barred owls that nest in the dead tree by the creek. The tree must be full of small bones. He goes looking for owls in the evergreens with his beloved and his daughters. He earned a Ph.D. from the University of Florida, after having worked as a freelance journalist, forklift operator, and library clerk. He has taught at the University of North Florida, University of Florida, and Florida State College of Jacksonville, where he is now a professor. He edits the literary journal deadpaper.org and plans tomatoes, bell peppers, beans, eggplants, and a dwarf fig tree for his spring 2010 garden. He is the author of Flights of Crows: Poems, 2002-2006.
