Jean McGrath, RN, MA, LNHA, was born in Darliston, Westmoreland, Jamaica, in the West Indies. She immigrated to the United States in 1967, and thanks to Sister Victoria, Director of St. Mary's Hospital School of Nursing, in Rochester, New York, she was admitted into their 3 year nursing program. This gave Ms. McGrath-Brown the opportunity to fulfill her lifelong dream of becoming a nurse. On June 13th, 1971, Ms. McGrath graduated from St. Mary's with the distinguished Alumni Association Award. Her graduating class of 34 would be the last class to graduate from the school. In June of 1982, Ms. McGrath received her Bachelor of Arts degree majoring in Business Management, from Mary Mount… Manhattan College, on East 71st Street in New York City. In June of 2004, twenty-two years later, she received her Master of Arts Degree, majoring in Urban Affairs from Queens College, City University of New York. Three years later, in the fall of 2007, she received her Nursing Home Administrator's License from Tallahassee in Florida. She held various positions at well-known institutions throughout her nursing career. She is married with three daughters, one son-in-law and four grandchildren. Ms. McGrath-Brown now resides in Florida with her family.
