Jana was born in Czechoslovakia, where children once made their toys themselves and families played many simple games together in their free time. When she was a little girl, she and her twin sister used to love taking long walks with their aunt Ruzenka in the streets of the old city. She remembered these happy times and as her own two sons grew up, she too took them for walks and told them stories about the world where love, loyalty and friendship are the most important values. Jana moved to the US and, encouraged by a friend, wrote these stories down. She lives in New England near the ocean and her love for swimming, surfing and scuba diving is reflected in her stories.Lauren has an… overactive imagination and has been drawing horses in notebook margins and doodling mythical creatures on napkins for as long as she can remember. The chance to produce these illustrations allowed her to reconnect with her inner child during a break from her University studies, and she hopes to ignite in young readers the same wonder and captivation with stories and artwork that she feels whenever she opens one of her favorite childhood books.

Professor Zumbansen holds the state law exam from the University of Frankfurt, a Licence en droit from the Université de Paris X, an LL.M. from Harvard and a Ph.D. and a Habilitation from the University of Frankfurt.
