Hans James Potter was born in 1933 in Capel, England, descending from a Danish / English background. Growing up he had a passion for literature and photography, and he served in the RAF in Germany during the 1950s as an official photographer. He then spent nearly two decades in Sweden working as the Scandinavian sales representative for an electric tool maker. He also taught at language schools using modern and innovative techniques before opening a school in Spain. He studied engineering at college and, later in life, took business courses at Warwick University before venturing a Swedish housing business in the UK. As he approached retirement, he focused on translating literature as well…
