Nick Vance, author and illustrator, was diagnosed as a Type 1 Diabetic in August of 2005. He is donating a substantial percentage of the profits from this book to the American Diabetes Association. In addition to producing children's books, he runs a freelance graphic design business, Sixfingers Design (www.sixfingers.org), and works in the design field in Seattle, WA.Nick lives with his wife, Rachel, and his dog, Molly. When not working in the creative field, he is an avid cyclist and somewhat avid yet frightened triathlete. Nick encourages all diabetics young and old to frighten themselves in a similar fashion.
