Nico van der Merwe is the founder ofthe H.A.S.S. Group, specialising in thedistribution of Swiss hearing aids andaudiological equipment from the USA,as well as the manufacturing of custommadehearing protection devices forthe mining and other industries insub-Saharan Africa. Together with hiswife Anita and their family, they havedeveloped Ear Institutes throughoutSouthern Africa. They are also thefounders of the Foundation for Childrenwith a Hearing Loss in Southern Africa.Nico received the Ernst & Young/FedlifeBusiness Mover of the Year Award in1996 and in 2009 was awarded theprestigious Chancellor's Medal by theCouncil and Senate of the University ofPretoria for his lifelong service to… thedeaf, including the establishment of theEduplex School.He is a dedicated Christian, a fitnessenthusiast and has had the privilegeof visiting all seven continents of theworld more than once. He is also aninternational speaker on various topicscovered in this book.
