Rick Duncan is a poet, musician, songwriter, arranger, and parody writer. Many of the poems featured in LOPSIDED LAUGHS are an offshoot of his songs. He has written over 300 original songs, 300 poems, and 1,100 parodies, mostly in a humorous or sarcastic vein. Also, just plain rants about injustice. His other hobbies include comedy, movies, Scrabble, coffee, nature, and mocking the rest of the world. He plays guitar, piano, bass, banjo, mandolin, dulcimer, and more instruments as well. Rick has performed countless times solo and with various musical groups. His humorous songs were aired on the Dr. Demento show in the 70s. As illustrator, Tina Glasner extends the poem concepts, portraying… situations never seen in real life. Readers have confirmed that the drawings complement the fun and impact of each poem. Tina's career has combined writing, editing, and graphic design. She has designed and produced books, and created ads, newsletters, and brochures. Her cartoons, illustrations, and pen and ink portraits have appeared in the literature of the California Writers Club, and she has also worked as a technical writer and editor. She has also has published over 50 nonfiction articles. Rick and Tina met in September 2008 through an online personals site. Then they discovered they had been at the same high school at the same time, Canoga Park High, In the early 70s. Since then, they've discovered other "near miss" connections in people they each know, proving it is indeed a strange and small world. For LOPSIDED LAUGHS, Tina created art to team with a selection of Rick's poems (some recent, some written early in his career), and contributed her editing and book layout skills. Rick and Tina hope people will enjoy the book on several levels: The messages, The bylines, And The drawings.
