Cross training for the job as he calls it.He started teaching skiing while still at College in Scotland. After four seasons in Scottish ski area of Aviemore he went to work in the Alps starting in the Austrian Tyrol. Soon he moved on to Italy and then the French Alps working for several years in the French ski school in Les Arcs. His last stint working in Europe was running a Swedish ski school situated… on the Swedish Norwegian border. He crossed the 'Pond' in 1997 to work in the Vail & Beaver Creek ski school in Colorado where he became a successful private coach to Royalty, Stars and some of the world's most influential business people. Working in the ski industry is a challenge as getting suitable employment in the summers can be difficult. Luckily he has managed to find some interesting summer jobs to complement his winter seasons. For five summers he worked in the St. Tropez area where he taught Scuba diving, sailing and wind surfing. One summer even saw him lead a trek across the Sahara. Getting somewhat 'fed up' moving from the mountains to the beach he got a job teaching horse riding at the Les Arc's Equestrian Center. This allowed him to stay in the one place for four years. He then returned to Scotland where he ran a hill-walking program for four summers. An opportunity came up to move to Sweden where he coached tennis. He taught at the ATL tennis school in Lund. Thanks to that experience he set up his own tennis school in the French Alps. He did this until rehab for knee surgeries forced him to relinquish the contract. Since 2003 he has been dividing his time between coaching skiing and soccer in Colorado.
