John Henry Jowett (1864-1923), was an English Congregationalist who received his education at Edinburgh and Oxford. After a relatively brief first pastorate, he succeeded the noted R.W. Dale in Birmingham where he remained for nearly fifteen years. In 1909 he visited the United States as a featured speaker at the Northfield Conference. As a result of this visit, he returned in 1911 to begin an eight-year ministry at New York's famed Fifth Avenue Presybterian Church. Returning to England in 1918, Jowett assumed the patorate of Westminster Chapel in London, occupying that pulpit unitli his death.
