Andrew Vietze is a freelance writer based in Appleton, Maine. The former managing editor of Down East magazine, he�s written for a wide array of publications from Time Out New York to Maine Times, from AMC Outdoors to Offshore to Hooked on the Outdoors. He�s also a registered Maine Guide and a seasonal ranger in Baxter State Park. The story of his transition from editor to ranger is included in Get Satisfied: How Twenty People Like You Found the Satisfaction of Enough (Easton Studio Press, 2007). In 2008, he won an International Regional Magazine Association award for his historical writing. He�s currently finishing a thriller set in the North Woods during the lumbering era.
