Brian Kaufman founded the literary magazine subTerrain in 1988 to promote emerging and experimental writers, and has since published sixty-four issues. Mr. Kaufman has been active in the publishing community for over twenty-five years and has served as a director of the ABPBC (Association of Book Publishers of Canada), the LPG (Literary Press Group of Canada), BCAMP (B.C. Association of Magazine Publishers). In 2009, Kaufman was the recipient of a Mayor's Arts Award (Awward for Literary Arts) from the City of Vancouver. He edited the anthology IN THE TRENCHES: THE BEST OF SUBTERRAIN MAGAZINE (THE FIRST TEN YEARS) (Anvil Press, 2013).
