Richard J. Aldrich teaches international relations at the University of Nottingham and is the author of several books including The Hidden Hand: Britain, American and Cold War Secret Intelligence which won the Donner Book Prize 2002 and was shortlisted for the Westminster Medal. Most recently he has written two anthologies of World War II diaries, Witness to War: Diaries of the Second World War in Europe and the Far East, and The Faraway War: Personal Diaries of The Second World War in Asia and the Pacific.
Kirsten Hoving is the Charles A. Dana Professor of the History of Art and Architecture at Middlebury College. She is the author of "Fables in Frames: La Fontaine and Visual Culture in Nineteenth-Century France".
