Mike Thaler was born in Los Angeles, California in 1936. He started his professional career drawing cartoons for adults. A children's book editor saw one of these cartoons and encouraged Mike to try his hand at writing for children. His first attempt met with success, and The Magic Boy was published in 1961. The creator of the Letterman from PBS's Electric Company series, Mike Thaler has published over 130 children's books and is known by his fans as the Riddle King.
David Wiesner David Wiesner was born and raised in Bridgewater, New Jersey. He graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design with a BFA in Illustration. His work has appeared in several children's books including "The Loathsome Dragon," which he retold in collaboration with his wife, Kim Khang. "Freefall" was the first book that he wrote himself and earned him a 1989 Caldecott Honor Medal. He earned another Caldecott Honor Medal in 1992 for his story "Tuesday." His most recent book is "Hurricane."
