Judy Delton graduated from a special two-year teachers' program offered through the College of St. Catherine in St. Paul during teacher shortages. But she turned from teaching elementary school to writing partly because she wanted to work at home while raising her children. Delton is the author of more than 200 books for young readers. Delton's work was known for its humor and strong child characters. Her 40-book series on the weekly adventures of the Pee Wee Scouts sold 7.5 million copies. Other popular books included the Kitty series, based on Delton's experiences as a girl in Catholic schools in St. Paul, and the Angel series, based on the childhood experiences of her daughter and son.… Until her death, Delton conducted writing workshops in her home and wrote a column for Once Upon A Time, a St. Paul newsletter for aspiring authors of children's books. Judy Delton, died of a blood infection December, 31 2002 at United Hospital in St. Paul. She was 70.
