Jordan Ellenberg was born in 1971 and grew up in Potomac, Maryland. After receiving his undergraduate and doctorate degrees from Harvard and his masters degree from Johns Hopkins, he became an Assistant Professor of Mathematics at Princeton University. His column Do the Math, appears regularly in the online journal Slate. This is his first novel.
