Harry Middleton earned his MA in history from Louisiana State University. He was a senior editor for Southern Living and wrote countless articles for periodicals such as the New York Times , Sports Illustrated, Smithsonian , Field & Stream , Gray's Sporting Journal , and more. He authored five books about fly fishing. He died in 1993.
