Lucy W. DeFranco taught beginning knitting lessons for a number of years, and elaborated and expanded upon the lesson plans for those classes to create this book. Although her particular techniques are not quite identical to those of Elizabeth Zimmerman, they are similar. Like her grandmother before her she is capable of producing prodigious amounts of knitted material, and she credits this to the efficiency of the Continental method. Ms. DeFranco is also an accomplished weaver, fiber artist, and language teacher, and has raised many different kinds of wool-bearing animals. She was also one of the co-founders of The Web*sters, a knitting and weaving supply store in Ashland, Oregon.

Raphael took several of the photos in the book, including the cover. He is a very talented technology savvy person and helped me with many parts of my learning curve. He is very talented, creative, and observant in many ways.
