Johanna Watzinger-Tharp is Associate Professor of German and Applied Linguistics at the University of Utah and Associate Dean for International and Interdisciplinary Programs. She obtained her Ph.D. at the University of Texas at Austin. Her work focuses on variation in German and its implication for teaching and learning the German language, teacher education and program development and has been published in Die Unterrichtspraxis/Teaching German, The Modern Language Journal, and the AAUSC annual volume. She is also the co-author of A Practical Review of German Grammar. From 2005 to 2007 she served as the President of AAUSC. She currently serves on the AP German Development Committee and… will assume the position of Chief Reader for AP German in summer 2008.
