Thomasina Miers is a cook, food writer and winner of BBC 2's Masterchef Goes Large 2005. Her passion for food has taken her around the world, from cheese making in the west of Ireland to opening a large restaurant and cocktail bar in Mexico City. She has contributed a regular recipe column to The Timesand Waitrose Food Illustrated, edited the highly successful cookery book Soup Kitchen, and is the author of Cook. In 2005, Guy Grieve gave up his job in an office cubicle to spend a year alone in the Alaskan wilderness. The result was his first book Call of the Wild. He has written for the Scotsman, and he currently lives on a Hebridean island with his wife and two sons.
