Fantasy writer Raymond E. Feist was born in Southern California. He received a B.A. in Communication Arts with honors from the University of California at San Diego in 1977. His first novel, Magician, published in 1982 is the first book of The Riftwar Saga. His other series include The Serpentwar Saga, The Empire Trilogy, The Riftwar Legacy, Krondor's Sons, Legends of the Riftwar, Conclave of Shadows, Darkwar Saga, Chaoswar Saga and Demonwar Saga. Feist's work appears regularly on the bestseller lists of The New York Times and The Times of London. He has also worked with Sierra Studios and PyroTechnix to produce a role-playing game.

Dennis L. McKiernan was born in Moberly, Missouri on April 4, 1932. After a tour with the U.S. Air Force, he received a B.S. in electrical engineering from the University of Missouri in 1958 and an M.S. in electrical engineering from Duke University in 1964. He worked at AT&T Bell Laboratories in research and development for 31 years before becoming a full-time author. He began writing novels in 1977 while recuperating from an accident. His novels include The Iron Tower Trilogy, The Silver Call Duology, The Eye of the Hunter, The Caverns of Socrates, Once Upon a Winter's Night, and Silver Wolf, Black Falcon.

Robert Lynn Asprin was born June 28, 1946 in St. Johns, Michigan to Daniel and Lorraine Asprin. Asprin attended the University of Michigan from 1964-65. In 1965, Robert served in the U.S. Army until mid-1966. Asprin then began a career as an accountant, moving up to cost accountant in a small subsidiary of the Xerox Corporation in Ann Arbor in 1976. In 1975, Asprin began working upon a science-fiction novel called Cold Cash War. Asprin sold this idea to St. Martin's Press and soon found himself a published writer.
