Tana French grew up in Ireland, Italy, the US and Malawi. She trained as a professional actress at Trinity College, Dublin, and has worked in theatre, film and voiceover. Her first novel, In the Woods, was published in 2007 and won the 2007 Edgar Award for Best First Novel. Her other books include The Likeness, Faithful Place, and Broken Harbor. Her title,The Secret Place, made The New York Times Best Seller List in 2014.
