L. P. Harveyis professor emeritus of Spanish at the University of London and a fellow of King’s College, London. He is currently a research associate at the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies. Harvey’s previous book,Islamic Spain, 1250 to 1500, is also published by the University of Chicago Press.
