Harold H. Saunders is the president of the International Institute for Sustained Dialogue and Director of International Affairs at the Kettering Foundation. He served on the National Security Council Staff, 1961-1974, and was Assistant Secretary of State for Near East and South Asia in the Carter Administration. He flew on the Kissinger shuttles, 1974-75, and was a principal drafter of the Camp David accords and the Egyptian-Israeli peace treaty, 1978-79. Since 1981, he has engaged in the nonofficial dialogues described in this book.
