Eleanor Gilpatrick is a contemporary realist, painting landscapes, figural works, abstracts, and still lifes that have captured her imagination. Her strengths are in composition and the use of color, but also in the depth of feeling she conveys in the live artwork. That special energy, found in the original art, is the reason she never makes prints of her work. This book presents images of her paintings and drawings that have been purchased by or given to private collectors. The images are the only ones available beyond the originals, and they are offered to people who would like to see what pieces are being enjoyed in private homes. Prior to her art career, Eleanor Gilpatrick was professor… at the School of Health Sciences, Hunter College, City University of New York. In High School and at the Educational Alliance in New York City she won prizes for painting and draftsmanship, but chose to study the social sciences in college and graduate school. She eventually became an expert in health care policy and human resources, authored four books, directed a masters program in health services administration, and pioneered courses in critical thinking and writing. She is Professor Emerita at Hunter College.Gilpatrick picked up the thread of drawing and painting in 1998 in plein-air workshops in Italy. Some of those early works eventually sold. She returned to serious study in studio courses at Hunter College and continues to paint as a second career artist. An inventory of her available paintings is at: http://www.zibbet.com/Egilpatr
