Hickman M. Johnson is a graduate of Tennessee State University (B.S.), Morehouse School of Religion-Interdenominational Theological Center (M.Div.), Mississippi College (M.A.) and Emory University (D.Min.). He was awarded the honorary doctorate (D.D.) from Mississippi Baptist Seminary. Dr. Johnson was called to the pastorate of the historic Farish Street Baptist Church, Jackson, Mississippi in 1968. He has served as Chaplain, Tougaloo College (67-69), Academic Dean (81-89) and President (89-02) of Mississippi Baptist Seminary.Dr. Johnson is married to the former Gladys Marie Thomas and they are parents of five daughters and grandparents of five. The author resides in Jackson, Mississippi… and is in his 42nd year as pastor of the historic Farish Street Baptist Church.
