Known for its accessibility, best-selling CRIMINAL INVESTIGATION, 10th Edition delivers a field-based approach to modern investigative principles and practices that is strongly grounded in current research.

Christine Hess Orthmann holds an M.S. in Oceanography and Coastal Zone Management from Nova Southeastern University, having completed her thesis on a topic relevant to environmental crime, and is currently working toward a Master of Science in Criminal Justice through the University of Cincinnati. She is a reserve officer with the Rosemount (Minnesota) Police Department.

Kren Matison Hess, PhD., (d. 2010) wrote extensively in law enforcement and criminal justice, gaining a respected reputation for the consistent pedagogical style around which she structured each textbook. She developed the original edition of MANAGEMENT AND SUPERVISION IN LAW ENFORCEMENT with Wayne Bennett and carried it through four very successful revisions; much of her work and influence remains unchanged in this new edition.
