Annie Proulx lives near the Red Desert. Her novel The Shipping News won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 1994. Proulxs other works include Brokeback Mountain, Postcards, That Old Ace in the Hole, and Close Range, Wyoming Stories. She is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Letters.
Larry McMurtry, winner of the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction, among other awards, is the author of twenty-four novels, two collections of essays, two memoirs, more than thirty screenplays, & an anthology of modern Western fiction. He lives in Archer City, Texas.
Novelist, screenwriter and film producer Diana Ossana is best known for her collaborative film work with Pulitzer Prize winner Larry McMurtry. Her screenplay collaborations with McMurtry include Pretty Boy Floyd, Streets of Laredo, Dead Man's Walk (both of which were miniseries) and Brokeback Mountain. In 2005 the screenplay for Brokeback Mountain won the Academy Award for Best Writing (Adapted Screenplay) as well as the Golden Globe Award for Best Screenplay and Writers Guild of America Award. Ossana was also a producer on the film, and won the Golden Globe Award for Best Drama. Brokeback received widespread critical acclaim and it won the Golden Lion (Best Film) award at the Venice Film… Festival and the Golden Globe Award for Best Picture - Drama.
