Stephanie Spinner was born in Davenport, Iowa; grew up in Rockaway Beach, New York; and attended college in Bennington, Vermont. After graduation she, moved to New York City and took a job in publishing. Needing a break, she traveled around the world including stops in London, Morocco, Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, Nepal, Mexico, Guatemala, and Belize.
