Professor Albert 'Loma' Miles was a prolific academic and contributor to the world of dental medicine. During his varied career he was the Professor of Dental Surgery and Pathology at the London Hospital Medical College Dental School, the Scientific Editor of the British Dental Journal and Honorary Curator of the Odontological Collection of the Royal College of Surgeons of England. Dedicated to his research, Loma spent entire summers on a remote Scottish island collecting specimens and publishing his findings. He invented the Miles Method of Assessing Age from Tooth Wear, which is still used in the field today. Professor Miles was active within the dental world throughout his life and died… in March 2008 shortly before the completion of this book.
