Born May 20, 1956 in Boston, Douglas Preston received a B.A. from Pomona College in 1978. His career began at the American Museum of Natural History, where he worked as an editor and writer from 1978 to 1985. He then became director and executive vice president of Editions Alecto Ltd. in London and later was a lecturer in English at Princeton University. Preston's interests include the history of science and exploration, anthropology, and evolutionary theory. His books include Dinosaurs in the Attic, Cities of Gold: A Journey Across the American Southwest in Pursuit of Coronado, and The Fifth World. Other writing includes columns for Natural History magazine and contributions to Audubon, Harper's, Smithsonian, and Travel & Leisure magazines.
Lincoln Child lives with his wife and daughter in Morristown, New Jersey.
