David W. Samuelson was born and raised in northern Mississippi. He received his BS degree from Mississippi State University in 1959 and his MD degree from the University of Mississippi in 1963. Postgraduate work was done at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas. He practiced internal medicine with Rugeley and Blasingame Clinic, and later with South Texas Medical Clinics, from 1967 until his retirement in 2004. He is a member of Caney Creek Church in Wharton, Texas, and has taught the Bible in several venues all his adult life. He has been married to Becky for fifty-three years, and they have three children and eight grandchildren.
