Grew up in San Francisco and lived for two years in Africa. She won the Michener Grant at the Iowa Writers' Workshop and is a senior editor at Tin House, based in Portland. This is her first book.

Marisha Pessl was born in Michigan in 1977, and now lives in New York. Her previous and debut novel, Special Topics in Calamity Physics, was published to rave reviews and established her as one of the most astute and exciting novelists writing today.

Jodi Picoult was born in Nesconset, New York on May 19, 1966. She received a degree in creative writing from Princeton University in 1987 and a master's degree in education from Harvard University. She published two short stories in Seventeen magazine while still in college. Immediately after graduation, she landed a variety of jobs, ranging from editing textbooks to teaching eighth-grade English. Her first book, Songs of the Humpback Whale, was published in 1992. Her other works include Picture Perfect, Mercy, The Pact, Salem Falls, The Tenth Circle, Nineteen Minutes, Change of Heart, Handle with Care, House Rules, Sing You Home, and Lone Wolf. My Sister's Keeper was made into a movie…    

Ingrid Hill has published short stories in a range of magazines and is the author of one collection, Dixie Church Interstate Blues. She earned her Ph.D. in creative writing at the University of Iowa and has twice received grants from the National Endowment for the Arts. The mother of twelve children, including two sets of twins, she and her family live in Iowa City.

Cammie McGovern is the author of the adult novels Neighborhood Watch , Eye Contact , and The Art of Seeing . This is her first book for young adults. Cammie is also one of the founders of Whole Children, a resource center that runs after-school classes and programs for children with special needs. She lives in Amherst, Massachusetts, with her husband and three children.
