Wilbur F. Hinman (1840–1905) served in the Sixty-fifth Regiment of the Ohio Volunteer Infantry during the war in the ranks of corporal, sergeant, orderly sergeant, first lieutenant, and captain in Company E. He mustered out in November 1865 as a lieutenant colonel and the last regimental commander. He had an active postwar career in journalism and government in the Cleveland, Ohio, area. nbsp;Allan R. Millett is the Ambrose Professor of History and the director of the Eisenhower Center for American Studies at the University of New Orleans.
