David Klein, March 31, 1919 - May 19, 2001 David Klein was born on March 31, 1919 in New York. He attended and graduated from City College and received his master's degree from Columbia in 1941. Klein wrote books on various topics, but his first book was entitled, "The Army Writer" and was and essential text for the military. He wrote it while he, himself was in the army in World War II. After the Army, Klein went on to become the executive vice president of Basic Books Inc., and then the publications director of the Association for the Aid of Crippled Children, both institutions found in New York. In 1964, Klein entered the faculty at Michigan State in East Lansing, Michigan. While there,… Klein taught, did research and wrote scholarly books and articles. He also wrote a column for Seventeen magazine, was a consumer affairs reporter for National Public Radio as well as a restaurant critic. David Klein died from cancer on May 19, 2001 in his home in Seattle. He was 82.
