Ofelia Loref de Mola was born and raised in Yucatan, Mexico. In 1995, she moved to NY thanks to a scholarship from FONCA. She holds a BFA in Dance Performance and an MFA in Choreography from the Conservatory of Dance at Purchase College State University of New York where she studied with Kazuko Hirabayashi. Ms. Loret de Mola is the recipient of many awards such as the MFA Outstanding Graduate Award, Dean's Award, Who's Who Award, Bert Terborgh Dance Award, Susan Kaskell Award, among others. Since 2002, she is a member of the Wendy Osserman Dance Company and Aszure and Artists. She has performed works by Noemie LaFrance, Asuncion Noales (Spain), Stephen Koplowttz and as part of the Purchase… Dance Corps, works by Shaptro and Smith, Doug Varone, Neil Greenberg, Pascal Rtoult and Kevin Wynn. She is a certified Pilates instructor and a faculty member at Ballet Academy East. She has also taught at Purchase College, PS 18, Toppan Zee Dance Group, and in Mexico at the Compania de Danza Contemporanea del Estado de Yucatan. Danscores by Ofelia Loret de Mola presented its first NYC season at the Merce Cunningham Studio in December 2004. Dansrnres has participated in the d.u.m.b.o. Dance Festival 2004, The COOL NY Festival 2005, The Frying Pan, Fielday 2005 at Pier 63 and HERE Arts Center, among other venues. As a member of ArtistAccess, she has performed at the Woodhull Medical Center and has been featured in the Daily News, CNN International, Telemundo, Univtsion, and is scheduled to appear in the November issue of Dance Magazine. She will participate in the d.u.m.b.o. Dance Festival 2005 and WAXworks at University Settlement in May 2006. Internationally, Ofelia Loret de Mola's choreography has been performed in Burgos, Spain and in Mexico, where she was commissioned to create a new work for CDCDEY. Contact: danscores@hotmail.com
