Catherine Coulter, Novelist Catherine Coulter published her first novel in 1978 when she was a child. She received an M.A. degree in early 19th century European history. Coulter pioneered the triology in historical romance. They include "Song," "Star," "Magic," "Night," "Bride," "Viking", and "Legacy" trilogies. Her first long historical, in 1982, was "Devil's Embrace." She has been on the New York Times Bestseller List over 35 times beginning with "Moonspun Magic" in 1988. She began writing contemporary novels in 1988, her first "False Pretenses," and now writes one suspense novel and one historical romance a year.
