Maury Allen was a legend among New York sportswriters. Theauthor of over forty books on baseball, Allen was most well knownfor his regular sports columns in the New York Post and the JournalNews. From 2002 to 2008, Allen co-hosted a weekly radioshow, Talking Sports with Maury and Bill. A qualified voter forthe National Baseball Hall of Fame for over thirty years, Allenwas granted a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Society ofSilurians, one of the oldest existing journalistic organizations.
