I have been Chair of the Department of Philosophy and Religion at the University of Southern Mississippi for six years and have taught at U.S.M. for fifteen years. Before moving to Southern Miss., I taught at universities in Kansas, Texas, and Arizona.#60;br#62;I have participated in summer seminars, sponsored by the National Endowment for the Humanities at the University of Virginia and Syracuse University. In addition I have held appointments as a Visiting Scholar at the University of Delaware and the University of Notre Dame. #60;br#62;#60;p#62;In my book, #60;i#62;Self-Interest and Beyond #60;/i#62;(1999), I developed an account of the proper use and limits of self-interested thinking. One of the reviewers of that book remarked, "Holley's work is informed by classical philosophical material, but it also contains fascinating analyses of contemporary movies, novels, and short stories. This is a work that every first-year college student should read. It could have a life-altering impact." I have also written widely on topics in philosophy of religion, ethics, and moral psychology in numerous professional journals, including #60;i#62;American Philosophical Quarterly#60;/i#62;, #60;i#62;International Philosophical Quarterly#60;/i#62;, #60;i#62;Journal of Value Inquiry#60;/i#62;, #60;i#62;International Journal for Philosophy of Religion#60;/i#62;, and #60;i#62;Religious Studies#60;/i#62;.
