About the AuthorFr. Gerry Condon is a priest of the Catholic Diocese of Baker, Oregon. He was born in Dublin, Ireland, was ordained a priest at St. Patrick College, Thurles, Co. Tipperary. Following ordination he came to the Baker Diocese. During his years of service in the Baker Diocese, he has been assigned to a variety of parishes.While being pastor of St. Mary Church, Wasco, Oregon, some parishioners encouraged him to begin a drama group, which he did, and directed several dramas over a period of years. On occasions, he also gathered people with musical talent to go to an institution for the retarded in The Dalles, Oregon, to the great delight of the residents.While serving in the… Parishes of St. Patrick, Heppner, and St. William, Ione, he wrote his first booklet, titled: "A Way of Grace". That booklet was a series of meditations of the Seven Sacraments of the Catholic Church.Later, at one time, in those same parishes, he was requested to have a "religious" drama in conjunction with the annual celebration sponsored by the Heppner Chamber of Commerce in honor of St. Patrick. At that time he composed the first of his dramas: "St. Patrick, Patron of Ireland". That was well received by the community, and so led to a succession of religious dramas.In 2008 Fr. Condon was chosen as "Man of the Year" by the Heppner Chamber of Commerce. He is currently retired, and lives in Heppner, Oregon.
