Marta Montemayor is ABD in Spanish Linguistics. She studied at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) in Mexico City and has 30 years of experience in teaching Spanish as a Second Language. At the UNAM, at the University of Texas at San Antonio (where she received her M.A.), and presently, at San Antonio College, she has taught basic through advanced language, semantics, syntax, teaching methodology, and has conducted teacher-in-service training courses, as well as created new courses. She is coauthor of Pido la palabra (level 5) (UNAM. 1991), Estoy listo (level 1) (UNAM. 1994), and Estoy listo (level 3) (UNAM. 2004). These basic instructional texts are widely used in Mexico,… the United States, Canada, and other countries. More recently, she coauthored a custom published program, Cu?ntame: Spanish for Beginners, Conversational Approach that has been in use at San Antonio College for eight years.
