Mindi Abair is a saxophonist, singer, composer, author and radio show host. As a solo artist, she has produced 10 #1 radio singles and 5 major label solo releases for Verve and Concord Records that have topped the Contemporary Jazz Charts, “It Just Happens That Way” (2003), “Come As You Are” (2004), “Life Less Ordinary” (2006), “Stars” (2008), and “In Hi Fi Stereo” (2010). Mindi hosts the internationally syndicated radio show “Chill With Mindi Abair”, and she is a staff writer for Wine and Jazz magazine, penning her own column “Wine and Jazz With a Star.” She is a Berklee College of Music graduate, an… elected governor for the Los Angeles Chapter of NARAS, and an Artist Ambassador for Campell’s Labels for Education and The Grammy Foundation. Mindi was featured on the 2011 season of "American Idol" as a soloist with Paul McDonald and Casey Abrams, won Best International Instrumentalist at the 2011 Wave Awards in Toronto, and Best Female Artist of the Year at the 2011 Oasis Contemporary Jazz Awards. She also appeared on the 2011 season for the Fran Drescher show “Happily Divorced”. The list of artists she has toured or recorded with are a testament to her talent. They include the Keb’ Mo’, Lalah Hathaway, Duran Duran, Lee Ritenour, the Backstreet Boys, Mandy Moore, Max Weinberg, Bill Champlin, David Pack, Mocean Worker, Adam Sandler, Rick Braun, Teena Marie, Bobby Lyle, Jonathan Butler, and Peter White.
Lance Abair, a multi-instrumentalist, started writing songs on the piano at the age of four, began saxophone at the age of 14 and almost immediately started performing in local bands. He toured the United States for 5 years playing saxophone and keyboards in a highly successful comedy/show band “The Fabulous Entertainers.” After the band broke up he spent the next 11 years as the talent coordinator and entertainment coach for Young American Showcase, a Florida-based musical touring company where, each year, young rock musicians from all over the U.S. were taught and rehearsed on all of the basic entertainment concepts. They were then assembled into eight rock bands to tour… throughout the entire school year, under the names of “Free Fare” and “Freedom Jam”, playing assemblies and night concerts in junior and senior high schools throughout the U.S. and Canada.Lance toured for three years playing saxophone and keyboards with Mark Farner from Grand Funk Railroad. He also held the position of Senior Product Specialist for KORG performing clinics nationwide. He then moved to Product Manager and Artist Relations for Clavia and then a technical trainer for Bose Professional Products. He is also well known as the writer, producer and video host of ten instructional videos for products ranging from Mark of the Unicorn’s Performer to KORG Keyboard Workstations. These videos were distributed worldwide.
