Advertising executive and author Dave Freeman was born in Whittier, California on February 21, 1961. He received a bachelor's degree in urban planning from USC in 1983 and worked in the advertising industry his entire life. He and Neil Teplica created a travel website, which was online from 1996 to 2001, that showcased festivals and events. In 1999, they wrote a travel guide entitled 100 Things to Do Before You Die: Travel Events You Just Can't Miss. This travel guide included such events as the Academy Awards ceremony; the running of the bulls in Pamplona, Spain; the National Hollerin' Contest in North Carolina; and Australia's Nude Night Surfing contest. He died after falling and hitting… his head on August 17, 2008 at the age of 47.
