Mary McFadden is a fashion designer, art historian, art collector, and writer. She has written for Vogue on her travels and art collecting and has contributed to numerous museum catalogs. Murray Gell-Mann is McFaddenrsquo;s companion and a Nobel Prizendash;winning physicist.

Murray Gell-Mann was born on September 15, 1929 in New York City. He received a B.Sc. from Yale University in 1948, and a Ph.D. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1951. He marked his place in history with his discovery of quarks, a concept in particle physics that earned him a Nobel Prize in Physics in 1969. He has written many scientific works including The Quark and the Jaguar: Adventures in the Simple and the Complex, in which he presents his ideas to a general readership.
