Ben Carson worked as a doctor for more than thirty-five years. He recently retired as the director of pediatric neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital. He is currently a Washington Times columnist and FOX News contributor. He has written several books including Gifted Hands: The Ben Carson Story and America the Beautiful: Rediscovering What Made This Nation Great and One Nation: What We Can All Do to Save America's Future written with his wife Candy Carson. They founded the Carson Scholars Fund, dedicated to recognizing the academic achievements of deserving young people. He received the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest civilian honor in the country.
