George S. Smith is a Registered Professional Archaeologist and currently the Associate Director at the Southeast Archeological Center in Tallahassee, Florida, US. He taught public archaeology at Florida State University for ten years and has served on the Society for American Archaeology (SAA) Public Education Committees as well as on the Board of Directors and co-chaired, the SAA Task Force on Curriculum. In addition to numerous journal articles and reports he co-edited the books Protecting the Past (1991); Teaching Archaeology in the 21st.
