Jay McGraw grew up in Dallas, Texas. He is currently a student at the University of Texas at Austin.
Phillip C. McGraw was born in Vinita, Oklahoma, on September 1, 1950. In 1968, he was awarded a football scholarship to the University of Tulsa, but he later transferred to Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. He went on to earn a Master of Arts in experimental psychology in 1976, and a Doctor of Philosophy in clinical psychology in 1979 at the University of North Texas. McGraw has had twenty-five years of experience in psychology and human functioning. He was also The Oprah Winfrey Show's resident expert on human behavior, as well as a three-time #1 New York Times bestselling author and co-founder of Courtroom Sciences, Inc., the world's leading litigation consulting firm. Dr. Phil's books include, Relationship Rescue: A Seven-Step Strategy for Reconnecting with Your Partner; Self Matters: Creating Your Life from the Inside-Out; and Life Code: The New Rules for Winning in the Real World. His books have been published in 27 languages with over 5 million copies in print. Dr. Phil also provides strategic guidance for millions of Americans through his monthly column in O, The Oprah Magazine. He is a successful public speaker, has published numerous scholarly articles, as a professional psychologist, and has practiced in the fields of clinical psychology and behavioral medicine.
