David Andrew York was born in Langley Mill,on the Nottinghamshire-Derbyshire border on 22 June 1962,the fourth of six children of a hard working coal mining family,the family moved to Langley when David was three due to his ill health, when he was thirteen years old the family moved to Aldercar and eventually he left the family home and moved to Heanor, he was educated at Langley Infants school, Marlpool Junior school and Aldercar comprehensive school, he left in 1978,the book came about through his love of history, which developed after he left school, he is fascinated whenever the media announce that a hoard has been found, he wondered what might have happened to the families who never… came back for their wealth, he presently lives in Grantham, Lincolnshire, with his wife Carolyn and two teenage children Luke and Holly,they moved there four years ago after leaving Alfreton, Derbyshire, David and Carolyn have been married for fifteen years, David works as a postman for Royal mail
